During the 36st edition of the regatta in Boca St. Michiel all the topics of the local history are kept alive. It is the only event where the traditional fishing and sailing of the last available crioyo boats can be seen. All issues of the fisherman's live got attention: food, dishes, culture, music, dresses, and marine life. In adition there were all active sports and games for kids. No admition, no charge and many small prices.
This years event was from April 29 till May 2nd. 15000 visitors came to participate or just enjoyed it. This year their was special attention and typial games for celebrating the 25th. anniversary of the Dutch Queens Beatrix being in charge.
For the first time in the Curacao history a effort of this magnitude was made to avoid the use of disposable cups.
A limited batch of 4000 cups were available: Orange because that's the Dutch Royal color, with printing of the logo's of the Queens crown, SamiSail and the sponsor. Many visitors bought more then one as a souvenir.
The Reef Care banner got a prime location at the main entrance.
