Clean-up Day at Blaauwbaai successfull

Dive school Blue Bay Divers is a local dive operator, being located at the pristine location at the golf courses at blue bay.

That day, there were many local initiatives on Curacao, but this operator coordinated there own clean up. There was a lot recovered from the sea: bottles, plastic, car tires, lost fishing lines etc.

It was well prepared, including a good briefing on diving and safety, as well as information what to take and what to leave. It was a nice clean-up day, and the participants were surprised with an outstanding barbecue offered by the beach restaurant AzZuro. The event closed with the traditional team pictures, and every one got his Padi Aware certificate and a nice bag with small presents.

Several Reef Care Curacao members were invited to join this event. It was a pleasure to see that on Curacao, the clean-ups have integrated in the diving comunity. There was no charge, and the food and drinks were excellent.

The international clean-up day was organized for its 20e time by Project AWARE Foundation in cooperation with the Ocean Conservancy. Project A.W.A.R.E is the abbreviation for Aquatic World Awareness Responsibility and Education. The Foundation organizes worldwide several activities to protect the underwater life.

International Clean-up Day at Blaauwbaai succesvol
Reef Clean up day 2005 Curaçao, 19 September 2005

Project A.W.A.R.E staat voor Aquatic World Awareness Responsibility and Education.
